Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and [REGISTERED COMPANY NAME — to be confirmed] (company number [COMPANY NUMBER — to be confirmed], registered office [REGISTERED OFFICE ADDRESS — to be confirmed]) — “we”, “us”, “Azate”.

By making an account or using Azate you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Azate. Our Privacy Notice and Cookie Policy are part of this agreement.

Azate is offered in the United Kingdom. If you are under 18 — and most people here are — please read this with a parent or guardian if anything is unclear.

Azate helps you study for GCSEs and A-Levels. The tutor is generative AI: it produces plausible text, it does not know things, and it can be confidently wrong.

• Azate is not a school and does not provide qualifications.
• Azate is not an exam board and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR, WJEC, SQA or Cambridge International. Where we name a board it is only to describe which syllabus something relates to.
• Nothing Azate produces is an official mark, grade or prediction.
• Azate is not counselling, medical, legal or financial advice. If you are struggling, please talk to a person you trust.

• You must be 13 or over. If you are under 18 you should have your parent or guardian’s permission.
• One account per person. Do not share it or let anyone else use it.
• Give us information that is true, and keep it up to date.
• Keep your password to yourself. Tell us at support@azate.co.uk if you think someone else has got into your account.
• You can close your account whenever you like, in Settings. It takes effect immediately.

Please do not:

• Use Azate for anything illegal.
• Upload content you do not have the right to upload, or that infringes someone else’s copyright.
• Upload or ask for content that is hateful, violent, sexual, or that sexualises anyone under 18.
• Try to get around the tutor’s safety limits, or to make it produce harmful content.
• Try to reach another user’s data, break our security, or probe the service for weaknesses without asking us first.
• Scrape Azate, use it through automated tools, or resell access to it.
• Use it to cheat in a way your school or exam board prohibits. Azate is for learning; how you are allowed to use study aids in assessed work is set by them, not by us.

There are fair-use limits on the AI features so the service stays available and affordable for everyone. If you hit one, it is a limit, not a punishment.

If you break these rules

We deal with it proportionately, and we start at the bottom: usually a warning explaining what happened, then a temporary suspension, and only then closing the account. For anything that puts a person at risk of serious harm we may act immediately. We will tell you what happened and why, in language you can understand, and you can reply to us and ask us to look again.

You keep ownership of everything you write and upload. You give us a limited licence to store it, show it back to you, and send it to the providers in our Privacy Notice solely to run Azate for you. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account.

We do not use your work to train AI models — ours or our providers’.

When you upload something, you confirm you are allowed to. If you believe something on Azate infringes your copyright, email copyright@azate.com with enough detail to identify it and we will deal with it promptly. Accounts that repeatedly infringe will be closed.

As between you and us, the answers, notes, flashcards and quizzes the AI generates for you are yours, to use for any lawful purpose.

Two practical points. AI-generated content may not attract copyright protection in the same way your own writing does. And because these models are trained on very large amounts of text, output may occasionally resemble existing material — so check before you submit anything as your own work.

Azate is currently free. There are no paid plans, no subscriptions and no payment details collected anywhere in the product today.

If we introduce paid plans we will publish separate terms covering price, renewals, cancellation and refunds, and we will not start charging an existing account without asking you first and getting your agreement.

Azate is in beta. Things will break, features will change, and there will be maintenance. We do not promise it will always be available or always be error-free, and we may add, change or remove features.

If we are going to remove something you depend on, or shut down, we will give you reasonable notice and a way to download your work first. You can export everything at any time from Settings.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.

Because you are a consumer, you have legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 — including that a digital service is supplied with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms affects those rights. If we fail to meet them, we are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach.

We are not responsible for:

• loss that was not foreseeable — that neither of us could have expected when you started using Azate;
• results in real assessments. Azate is a study aid; how well you do in an exam depends on far more than one tool;
• decisions you take purely on the strength of AI output without checking it, where checking it would have shown the problem;
• loss caused by something outside our reasonable control, or by your own breach of these terms.

Azate is free, so there is no price to refund. That does not cap what we owe you if we cause you loss we are responsible for under this section.

Messages to and from the tutor pass through an automated safety check. It is software, not a person reading your conversations. If it flags something, the tutor will not answer and you will see a message instead.

If something you write suggests you may be at risk of serious harm, we may show you crisis support resources, and in a genuine emergency we may pass on the minimum information necessary to get help to you. We are not a counselling service and we are not monitoring you.

The Azate name, logo, design, artwork and software are ours. Using Azate does not give you any right to copy, redistribute or build on them. Your own work and the output generated for you are excluded from this — those are covered by sections 5 and 6.

You can close your account at any time in Settings; doing so deletes your data as described in the Privacy Notice.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks section 4, following the steps described there. We will tell you why, and you can ask us to look again by emailing support@azate.co.uk. Unless there is a legal or safety reason not to, we will give you a chance to export your work first.

Sections 5, 6, 9, 11 and 14 continue to apply after an account ends.

These terms are version 2026-08-19.terms.2, in effect from 19 August 2026.

If we change something that matters we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect, with a plain summary of what changed, and ask you to agree to the new version. If you do not agree you can close your account and export your work. Small corrections that do not affect your rights we will simply publish, with a new version number.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If there is a dispute, please email us first — most things are quicker to fix that way.

You keep the right to bring a claim in the courts of the part of the UK where you live, and to rely on the consumer protections that apply there. Nothing here requires you to give that up, and there is no compulsory arbitration.

If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
